BEWARE OF OPEN WATER Winter 2011-2012

Be very careful when venturing out on Lake Latoka. There are almost always weak spots on the lake. When the lake freezes over, most of the time, there will be a spot where the lake will be open and this year is no exception. On the east side of the lake there is open water from the north side well past Fireman’s Lodge. You can see the open water now, but after a few days of cold weather it will look safe to travel over. IT IS NOT SAFE. Keep away from that spot. I have lived on the lake for 24 years and have seen my share of fishhouses and vehicles go through the ice. Most of the time it is on these weak spots. Don’t venture out on the lake unless you know where it is safe.
Be careful, be safe, and good fishing! Jim Eveslage LLPOA Board Member
